I can assure you I am not, said the older man, a sly smile playing around his mouth. The older mans
name was William Waldorf Astor, and the magnificent structure was the original Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
The young clerk who became its first manager was George C. Boldt. This young clerk never foresaw
the turn of events that would lead him to become the manager of one of the worlds most glamorous
hotels.

Health and Fitness Tip for July
Proteins, carbs, vitamins, minerals, water and fats: Of the six primary classes of nutrients, which is the
most critical for growth, muscle development and health? If you guessed water, youre right.
Its hard to say enough good things about water. It is the most abundant compound in the human body,
making up about 60% of body weight in adults. Water fills virtually every space in and between cells.
From energy production to joint lubrication to reproduction, there is no system in your body that does
not depend on water.
It appears that most of us arent drinking enough water. Nearly one-third of the U. S. population is
walking around slightly dehydrated. Even mild dehydration can have an effect on your physical
performance and muscle growth.
WATER AND YOUR MUSCLES - Since muscles are nearly 70% water, even a small loss of fluid
well affect their function. Muscles are controlled by nerves. If youre low on water, muscle strength
and control are weakened. A water deficiency of just 2 4% of your body weight can cut your
strength-training workout by as much as 21% and your aerobic power by a whopping 48%. The body
needs water to perform. If gaining muscle is your goal, you need to keep your muscle cells hydrated to
stimulate protein synthesis and decrease protein breakdown. Furthermore, the proper hydration of the
cells in your body has been shown to have a positive influence on genetic expression, enzyme and
hormone activity and metabolic regulation.
WATER AND YOUR FAT - If your goal is to lose body fat, water is your friend. Downing a couple
of glasses of water before mealtime takes the edge off hunger and youll discover that you eat less. One
of the best things about water is that it has no calories. As you mobilize your stored fatty acids to burn
as energy, you release any fat soluble toxins that been stored in your fat cells. The more fluid you drink,
the more you dilute the toxins in your bloodstream and the more rapidly they leave your body. For
