have more of this substance, then you make the
mosquito Most Wanted list.
Only female mosquitoes bite humans and take our
blood, which females need for the production of
eggs. For many, the episode amounts to nothing
more than an itch, but for others a mosquito bite can
have serious, and even fatal, repercussions;
mosquitoes transmit malaria, and are responsible for
a number of other human diseases.
So, its encouraging to know that scientists are
working to not only develop more effective
mosquito repellents, but theyre also researching
mosquito attractants something along the lines of
a mosquito motel that would lure mosquitoes

Spruce Up Your Yard Safely
If its time to spruce up your yard, keep these tips in mind as your shape and care for your green
oasis:
Warm up before you do yard work. Stretch those muscles. Your yard work may not seem
challenging, but plenty of people pull muscles while doing it.
Never handle pesticides and fertilizers without protective clothing.
Always wear shoes when you operate a mower, and avoid wearing loose clothing.
Never start your mowers indoors (garages, sheds, etc.), and when its time to refuel make sure
the engine is off and cool. And of course, never smoke when you are around gasoline.
Never leave your mower on while unattended.
If you are doing hands-on weeding, make sure you can recognize poison oak, poison ivy and
poison sumac so you can avoid them.
Dont use electrical mowers on wet grass. And, if you use other tools and equipment to maintain
your lawn such as trimmers, lawn edgers, pruners and power saws, here are a few more pointers:
Read the instructions before operating the tools.
